Norway 2022
This was our first time to Scandinavia. On Aug 23, we joined an Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) trip with 15 other travelers who we met up with in Oslo, Norway’s capital. Our travels included the following.
(1) A stop in Stockholm before the trip where we spent 5 nights on our own as is described in a separate Smugmug report.
(2) Spent 3 nights in Oslo where there are a lot of interesting sights to visit. Including the spectacular new Opera House.
(3) Visited the small village of Flam, the start of one of the great train rides in the world.
(4) Photographed the colorful painted houses in Bergen.
(5) Spent 6 nights on the Polarlys, a Hurtigruten ship. These boats have gone up and down the Norwegian coast for many years delivering cargo and passengers to the many ports. For some of the stops, it is the only contact with the outside world.
(6) Looked across the Arctic Ocean from North Cape, the most northern place in Europe.
(7) Visited with Sami people and touched reindeer in Northern Finland.
(8) Saw the most beautiful library in the world in Helsinki.
(9) Great weather. Norway is a very rainy place. We had sunshine almost all the time and only a bit of drizzle. Our guide Emma said we were very lucky!
It was a rewarding trip. Our guide, Emma was outstanding and we were with a great group of travelers.
