Yampa Float 2008
Armando Menocal and I floated the Yampa River in Dinosaur National Monument in August 2008. It is almost impossible to get a private permit in prime season, but we had it all to ourselves in mid-August. The water was too low for rafts, and people haven't discovered that this river makes an excellent canoe trip. We ran it with my inflatable SOAR Canoe. We saw 22 bighorns, and no people in the first 5 days. At low water, the rapids are easy. A detailed trip report can be found at http://www.adventureplus.org.
